The Pro Nuke Lobby

A vintage parody from SNL about anti-nuke hysterics, plus comparison of nuclear energy to coal.  Sound familiar?

Here's where to post about the types of spin used by the pro-nuke lobby.

  1. One common way to identify a pro-nuke poster is if they mention LFTR (liquid fluoride thorium reactors) more than once. LFTR's are just another type of nuclear power. More advanced and "safe" they will say.

  3. Beware of posters who repeat over and over how they live in Tokyo (repeating something over and over is a good clue they are not who they say they are). These posters deny any real impact of radiation and state that everyone else is just hysterical over nothing.

They are likely paid posters and it's doubtful they are anywhere near Japan. One uses a screen name from a Gilligan's Island character.

  4. Nuclear shills often compare apples to oranges.

You'll see arguments like "you'd have to drink 1000's of gallons to be equal to the radiation from an airplane flight".

This article explains why it's not the same thing:
